How do I restore the factory settings on my Netgear EX6150 Extender Setup


  • Look for an object, like a paper clip or a pen, in the Reset Netgear Extender factory.

  • Look for the Factory Reset button at the bottom of the Netgear EX6150 Extender.

  • Using a paper clip or pen to press and hold the reset button for at least 5 seconds, or until the Screen to Extender LED flashes amber.

  • Release the button for Factory Reset and wait for a reboot of the extensor.

  • The extender goes back to its original factory settings before it reboots

  • Link the wire in the electrical socket to the extender.

  • Wait until the light inside the Power LED becomes orange.

  • On the EX6150, set the switch to Access Point.

  • Attach an Ethernet cable to both the Ethernet port on the EX6150 and to the router's LAN port.

  • Links to the default EX6150 WI-FI networks of your wireless devices, such as laptops, tablets, and smartphones:

  • Pick mywifiext.net from the address field of your web browser. You are shown the Latest Extender Setup.

  • For NEW EXTENDER SETUP, press the Setup button.

  • It will be shown on a computer for the Build Account.

  • On the Build Account screen, fill out the fields and press the NEXT button.

  • It will work out which mode the EX6150 is in.

  • Hit the PUBLIC NETWORK or HOME NETWORK toggle.

  • By clicking the Next button, you can enter the desired network name (SSID), security option, and password.

  • Before clicking the Continue button, double-check that the client machine is connected.

  • Select the Proceed option. Upon completion, a screen shows that you have created an access point successfully.

  • A click occurs on a button named Next. The device is shown in an entry. To finish the setup, fill in the registration fields and press Finish. When you do not want your extension to be registered, simply click Skip Registration.


The EX6150 NETGEAR Range Extender does not detect a NETGEAR router's 5GHz wireless band, nor is the 5GHz link intermittent.

Consider swapping the frequency port on your router if the extender is unable to detect your 5GHz wireless router wifi link or if the extender happily submits to the 5 GHz band on a sporadic basis.

  • In order to modify your router's wireless channel:

  • Shift your extensor closer to your router first.

  •  Log in to interface with your router. For more info, see How do I log in to my home router using NETGEAR?

  • To enter the Wireless Settings tab after your router logs in successfully, press Wireless.

  • earch for a channel on a wireless network under the (5GHz).

  • If the router is set to Auto or to a channel of 52-64 or 100-140, turn the channel to 36-48 or 149-161.

  • Note: If you're using a channel that's between the suggested ranges, change it to something else to address intermittent connections.

  • Push the Submit button. Push the "Click" button.

  • Reconnect to the 5GHz band of the extender and see if the link has changed.


Note: To see the name of your 5GHz router network (SSID) in the list of available networks that can be expanded, you can need to update your network list.
